How to Authorize Shared Educator Devices

Device authorization is a crucial security feature that ensures staff can only access the app from approved devices, protecting sensitive family information from being accessed on personal phones. This document explains how administrators can authorize a device (such as a classroom iPad) to use the ChildFriendly app. It also covers how to optionally allow specific staff members to access your center’s account from their personal devices.

Step 1: Log In to the Device with Admin Credentials

Log in to the ChildFriendly app on the device you want to authorize using an account that has administrative access.

Step 2: Open the Authorization Menu

Click your name in the top-right corner of the screen to open the account menu. From the dropdown options, select Authorize This Device.

The device is now authorized, and room staff will be able to log in to the ChildFriendly app on this device using their own credentials.

Step 3: Log Out of Your Admin Account

After authorizing the device, log out of your admin account so that staff can sign in with their own accounts.

Step 4: (Optional) Enable Access from Unauthorized Devices

If you prefer to allow a specific staff member to access your center’s ChildFriendly account from devices that have not been authorized, you can enable this option in that staff member’s profile.

Navigate to the staff member’s profile and locate the setting that controls access from unauthorized devices.

Click on the appropriate staff member to open their profile.

Scroll down to find the Allow Unauthorized Device Access toggle and enable it for that staff member.

Click the Save button to apply the changes.

Please note that, for maximum security, the recommended approach is to authorize all devices.
